1. What VIDA LAB is
VIDA LAB is a web-based self-tracking and research platform for people living with chronic illness. You record how you feel, and the app shows you patterns in your own data — things worth noticing and worth raising with a clinician. It also offers a library of research explainers, chronic-condition reports, and an AI companion called Vida. It is a wellness and educational tool, not a medical device.
2. Not medical advice
VIDA LAB does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for professional medical care.
Nothing on this site — no pattern, insight, report, research article, condition report, or answer from Ask Vida — is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. Always seek the advice of your doctor or another qualified health professional with any question about a medical condition, and never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here.
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
About patterns and correlations
The patterns VIDA LAB surfaces describe things that appeared together in your own records. They do not establish that one thing caused another. Two things can move together by coincidence, or because of a third factor the app knows nothing about. Treat every pattern as a question to explore with a clinician, not an answer.
About the research library and Ask Vida
Ask Vida is an AI assistant that draws on a library of published research and educational explainers. Citations are provided so you can read the source yourself. Research is summarised for readability, may be superseded by newer findings, and describes populations rather than you specifically. We don't guarantee that any cited study applies to your situation. Vida is an AI, not a licensed clinician, and her responses are educational — not medical advice.
3. Your responsibilities
You agree to use VIDA LAB only for your own personal, non-commercial tracking, and:
- Not to use it as a clinical decision-making tool, or to make diagnostic or treatment decisions for yourself or anyone else
- Not to copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the site's content or research library except where the law permits
- Not to resell, sublicense or share paid access to your Vida+ subscription
- Not to use the site unlawfully or in a way that interferes with its operation or other people's use of it
4. Your data
When you create an account and log check-ins, your entries — energy, sleep, mood, symptoms, cycle phase, and notes — are stored securely in our database and linked to your account. Only you can see your own check-ins; they are not visible to other users. You can delete individual entries or your entire account at any time.
Public content — research explainers, condition reports, and articles — is visible to everyone without an account. Your private check-in data requires you to be signed in.

5. Free and paid access
VIDA LAB is free to use. The public site — research, the condition library, and Ask Vida — is open to everyone. Creating an account is optional and unlocks personal tracking tools (Daily Signals). Vida+ is a paid membership that adds advanced features like Pattern Map, Doctor Prep, and printable reports.
Subscription terms
- Vida+ is an auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown on the site in your local currency before you buy.
- On our website, payment is processed by Stripe at confirmation of purchase. In our iOS app, payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and RevenueCat manages the subscription.
- The subscription renews automatically, and your payment method is charged within 24 hours before the end of each billing period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription from your account settings or by contacting us. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, where offered, is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Refunds
For subscriptions bought on our website, contact us at rowan@vidalab.co about refunds. For subscriptions bought in our iOS app, refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's refund policy; we cannot issue those refunds ourselves, but we can help you cancel future renewals. Nothing here affects statutory rights you may have under local consumer law.
Changes to pricing and features
We may change subscription prices or what each tier includes. We'll give reasonable advance notice of a price increase affecting your renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect. We will not remove access to reports you've already generated.
6. Ownership
We own the site, its design, and its research library, and grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use it under these terms. You own the health information you enter. We claim no rights over your check-in data.
7. Availability
We aim to keep VIDA LAB working but don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or discontinue features. Some functions — signing in, buying a subscription — depend on third parties, and can be unavailable for reasons outside our control.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VIDA LAB is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site's patterns, insights or research summaries are accurate, complete, or suitable for any medical purpose.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VIDA LAB and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site. This includes any decision made or action taken — or not taken — in reliance on information on the site.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 USD.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all mandatory statutory rights under the law of your state of residence, and nothing here limits them.
10. Ending this agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting your account; cancel any active subscription first so it doesn't renew. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, or if we discontinue the site — in which case we'll give notice where we reasonably can.
11. Age requirement
You must be at least 13 to use VIDA LAB. If you are 13 or older but under the age of majority in your state, you may use VIDA LAB only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who should review these terms with you and must agree to any purchase.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and we'll notify you of material changes before they take effect. Continuing to use VIDA LAB after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in Delaware have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms. If you are a consumer resident in another state, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your state of residence, and may bring proceedings there where local law gives you that right.
14. General
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the site.
