VIDA LAB

Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

What health information VIDA LAB collects, why, who receives it, and how to see, delete or stop sharing it.

1. Health data we collect and why

  • Daily check-ins: energy, sleep, mood, pain level, symptoms, cycle phase if you log it, and notes. We use them to show your charts, patterns and insights.
  • Things you add: experiments, Doctor Prep notes, treatments, meals, health concerns you pick, and appointment requests with the reason you type. We use them to run those features for you.
  • Insights and summaries we create from your entries, such as pattern observations, Vida+ forecasts and, if you turn it on, a weekly email summary. We use them only to show or send them to you.
  • Community posts you choose to publish, which may mention your health. Other members can read them.
  • Location for a doctor search, only when you tap "Use my location" in the iOS app. It is sent to Apple Maps for that search and is not saved or sent to us.
  • Apple Health data and health records in the iOS app, only with your permission. These are read on your iPhone and are not sent to us.

We collect this health data only to provide the features you ask for, with your consent where the law requires it. We do not use it for advertising.

2. Where it comes from

From you, from what we work out from your own entries, and, in the iOS app, from Apple Health when you allow it.

3. Who receives it

We never sell consumer health data. Your health data goes to these companies only to run VIDA LAB for you, under contract:

  • Supabase and Base44, which host our database, website and server functions.
  • AI providers, only when you use an AI feature: Anthropic for Vida+ tools in the app, OpenAI for Ask Vida answers in the app after you agree, and the AI service built into Base44 for AI features on the website.
  • Google (Gmail), which delivers reminder emails and, if you turn it on, your weekly summary email.

Health data goes to someone else only when you choose to send it:

  • A medical practice you pick, if you choose to send it a health snapshot.
  • Google Calendar, if you connect it to add an appointment.
  • Other members, for community posts you publish.
  • Anyone you share a summary, record or export with from your device.

We do not set up geofences around health care locations, and we do not share health data with advertisers or data brokers.

In the iOS app, we ask for your consent before an AI feature sends a summary of your data to an AI provider. On the website, the Vida chat and Vida+ tools send what you type, or a summary of your check-ins, to the AI service built into Base44 when you use them. We send you a weekly health summary by email only if you turn it on, and a health snapshot goes to a practice only if you choose to send it. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings in the app, or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not undo what was already sent.

5. Your rights

  • See your data, and get a list of every company we have shared it with, with their contact details.
  • Delete your data. In the app: Settings, then Delete account and data. Anyone can also email us. We also tell the companies above to delete their copies.
  • Withdraw consent to any collection or sharing that needs it.

To use these rights, email rowan@vidalab.co from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within 45 days, and if we need up to 45 more days we will tell you why. We will not charge you or treat you differently for using your rights.

6. Appeals

If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word "Appeal". We will respond within 45 days and explain our decision. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general. In Washington, that is the Washington State Office of the Attorney General.

7. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a change affects how we collect or share your health data, we will tell you in the app or by email first and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
