1. We respect creators
VIDA LAB is built on careful, cited work, and we expect the same from everyone who posts here. Do not post text, images, audio or video in the community, or upload a profile photo, unless you made it or you have permission to use it. Quoting a short passage with a citation for discussion is fine. Copying whole articles, figures or photos is not.
2. How to send a copyright notice
If you believe content on vidalab.co or in the VIDA LAB app infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), the notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, or that of the person authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- The copyrighted work you believe was infringed (or a list, if there are several).
- Where the material is on VIDA LAB, with enough detail for us to find it, such as a link.
- Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
3. Our designated agent
Copyright Agent, VIDA LAB
Email: rowan@vidalab.co
Please send only copyright notices to this address. For anything else, see Support.
4. What happens after a notice
When we receive a complete notice, we act quickly to remove or disable access to the material. We tell the person who posted it, send them a copy of the notice with your personal contact details removed where the law allows, and explain how to respond.
5. Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or that you had the right to post it, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3), it must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- What was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district where VIDA LAB may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We send a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.
6. Repeat infringers
Each valid notice against content you posted counts as one strike. A strike is removed if a counter-notice leads us to restore the content. If an account receives three strikes within 12 months, we close it. We may close an account sooner for clear or deliberate infringement.
7. Misuse
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a false claim in a notice or counter-notice can be liable for damages. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, consider talking to a lawyer first.
